Hans Bjornsson is a professor (research) at the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) which is working on applying information technologies to the construction industry to improve integration in the process from the design to the management of the constructed facility. The research involves a wide range of technical, social, economical and managerial issues. His own research is in the area of e-commerce in design and construction, computer-supported collaboration, modeling design and construction processes and in the evaluation of IT investments.

He is a former dean of the School of Technology Management & Economics at Chalmers and a professor of Construction Systems Management there. He has been on the faculty of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, M.I.T., and the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.
